Start date, regular-season finish and final
Each of the 18 clubs played 17 regular-season matches, one against every other club. The top eight moved directly into the quarterfinals; there was no Play-In round between Jornada 17 and the Liguilla.
Why the calendar was unusually compressed
Liga MX had to finish its domestic spring competition before the 2026 World Cup opened on June 11. The calendar therefore used three midweek double rounds—Jornadas 2, 9 and 16—while preserving a FIFA international window from March 23 through March 31. That produced a tighter rhythm than a typical Clausura and moved the entire knockout phase into May.

Rivalry dates and the three double rounds
The midweek rounds arrived immediately after opening weekend, in early March and just before the regular-season finale. Around them, the schedule's headline rivalry dates were Chivas vs. América on February 14, Atlas vs. Chivas and Tigres vs. Monterrey on March 7, Pumas vs. América on March 21, and América vs. Cruz Azul on April 11.

How the Clausura 2026 Liguilla finished
The top eight clubs advanced directly from Jornada 17 to a three-round, two-leg Liguilla. Pumas entered as the No. 1 seed, while Cruz Azul entered third and changed coach immediately before the knockout phase. They survived opposite sides of the field to set up an all-Mexico City final.

Cruz Azul beat Pumas to win the title
The first leg at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes finished 0-0. Three days later, Cruz Azul won 2-1 at Estadio Olímpico Universitario, taking the final 2-1 on aggregate and securing the club's tenth Mexican league championship.
