How the Liga MX playoff format works in 2026
The men's first division returned to a straightforward eight-team Liguilla in 2026. That removes the preliminary Play-In and makes every regular-season position inside the top eight directly meaningful.

The regular-season table supplies the qualifiers and seeds. Positions nine through 18 are eliminated.

Quarterfinals begin 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5, with the higher seed hosting the second leg.
Advance through three rounds
Quarterfinal, semifinal and final winners progress until one champion remains.
